What happens during the procedure?

Dr. Engineer will start with an in-depth consultation to discuss your medical history, cosmetic concerns, and aesthetic goals. He will examine your neck and skin and discuss the details of the procedure with you.

Your surgery will take 2-4 hours and begins with general anesthesia. Once it has taken effect, Dr. Engineer will make a very small incision under your chin, and small incisions around and behind your ears in your hairline. He will use these incision points to carefully tighten the muscles of your neck and remove extra fat and skin. The skin of your neck will be lifted into place to create a firm, youthful contour. Dr. Engineer will then close the incisions and apply a pressure dressing.

Recovery after neck lift surgery

Post-surgery, expect a tight neck feeling with sutures at incision sites and a possible neck tube to drain fluids. After anesthesia recovery, arrange for a companion to take you home. Dr. Engineer will remove the drain in 2-3 days and the stitches in about a week, monitoring your progress.

After returning home, plan for 1-2 weeks of downtime with a supportive friend or family member. Expect swelling and bruising during your healing phase. Wearing your compression dressing day and night is crucial to reduce swelling and ensure proper neck healing. Use a cold compress to alleviate pain and swelling, and keep your head elevated when lying down.

Around the two-week mark, most patients can resume sedentary work, but strenuous activities should be avoided for 4-6 weeks. Full resolution of swelling may take several months, but once it subsides, you'll appreciate the remarkable results of your neck lift.
