What Is Biote?
Biote is a method of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, which is a treatment designed to correct hormone imbalances. Biote is a specialized version of this treatment that is the result of over 80 years of condensed scientific research.
How Does Biote Work?
The Biote method of hormone optimization uses tiny pellets, which are inserted beneath the skin during a simple procedure. As these pellets dissolve into the bloodstream, they release a stream of hormones that are identical in structure to the hormones naturally produced by the body. This allows the body to recognize the new hormones, which can correct the hormone imbalance and alleviate the various symptoms.
Benefits of Biote
For anyone suffering from a hormone imbalance, Biote hormone optimization offers the following benefits:
- Corrects hormone imbalances
- Increased energy
- Improved sleep
- Better focus and memory
- More consistent mood
- Alleviates anxiety and depression
- Stronger muscles
- Alleviates joint pain
- Improved sex drive
- Reduced blood sugar
- Reduced body fat
What Should I Expect During the Treatment?
If you believe that Biote hormone optimization treatment could be right for you, the first step will be to schedule a basic health assessment at our clinic. You will also need to have bloodwork done to evaluate your current hormone levels. This will confirm whether or not Biote is a good fit for your needs. Next, one of our medical providers at Engineered Aesthetics will evaluate your lab results and devise a personalized treatment plan based on your hormone levels and health goals.
The actual Biote treatment will be quick and simple. During your appointment, your provider will begin by cleansing the skin in the area where the pellet will be inserted. Typically, the Biote pellet is implanted around the hip or buttocks. Next, a local anesthetic will be administered to the area, and the doctor will make a tiny incision. Finally, a special instrument will be used to insert the pellet beneath your skin. Your provider will then close the incision and bandage the area to finish the procedure.
After your initial Biote treatment, your pellet will gradually dissolve. Typically, you’ll need to have a new pellet inserted approximately every three to five months.
Am I a Candidate for Biote?
Adults who would like to correct their hormone imbalance could be good candidates for Biote hormone therapy. If you’re suffering from any of the following symptoms, you may want to schedule a health assessment at our clinic:
- Low energy
- Weak muscles
- Decreased sex drive
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Foggy brain
- Mood swings
- Unusual weight gain
What Is the Recovery Like?
After undergoing Biote hormone therapy, it’s advised that you avoid lower body exercise for a few days. You should also avoid bathtubs, hot tubs, and swimming during this time. Once your bandage has been removed, you should be fine to resume your normal exercise routine.
How Long Will It Take To See Results From Biote?
Most patients start to see improvements in their hormone imbalance symptoms during the weeks following the initial Biote pellet treatment. However, some patients don’t start seeing results until after their second pellet has been inserted.
